"You know it's great and all to get those saves, but at the end of the day the two points is all that matters," Quick said. "It's a tough rink to come into against a real great hockey team."
Anze Kopitar posted two goals for Los Angeles, which bounced back from Saturday's 3-2 overtime loss to Minnesota. Oscar Moller and Wayne Simmonds each posted goals while Dustin Brown chipped in with two helpers in the win.
Jimmy Howard stopped 21-of-26 shots for the Red Wings, who had a two-game win streak snapped.
"I thought we did a lot of really good things tonight," said Detroit head coach Mike Babcock. "Their goalie was good and those things happen to you. You never want lose 5-0 at home, but we did see a lot of good things."
Despite getting out-shot, 12-6, during the opening 20 minutes, the Kings took a 1-0 lead into the break. Simmonds registered the score when he corralled in a rebound from the slot and jammed it between Howard's pads.
Detroit continued to pepper the net during the second period. LA even killed back-to-back power plays thanks to the play of Quick, who turned away 26 shots during the frame.
At the 13:39 mark of the same period, the Kings took a 2-0 edge on Kyle Clifford's shot from the point, which trickled past the Detroit netminder and settled near the right post. Moller was able to attack the net and knock in the puck.
The Kings continued to roll during the final frame as Kopitar scored back-to- back goals. His first came 23 seconds into the period, then he made it a 4-0 game 2 1/2 minutes later. On the second goal, he patiently waited on the right side circle and finally fired it past Howard.
Jack Johnson made it a rout with LA's fifth and final unanswered goal of the night on a Justin Abdelkader double-minor high-sticking penalty.
